At 10.45 am today in Sonnenstraße began the move-in of the landlords of the Oktoberfest. Established in 1887 this event is the beginning of the opening of the Oktoberfest every year. Thousands of people are in the streets to watch it.
The procession consists of the carriages of the landlords, carriages of the breweries, the bands of the tents, and the waitresses and waiters. At the top of the celebration is the symbol of Munich, the so called “Münchner Kindl”. We are proud to say, that the Münchner Kindl is played the third time by Stephanie Krätz, the daughter of our landlord Sepp Krätz. The mayor of Munich, Christian Ude, follows her. On the wagons of the procession are not only the landlords, their families, and their friends, but also many prominent German speaking people.
In the carriage of Sepp Krätz sat his partner in life Tina Fichtel, and the former CEO of Daimler-Chrysler Jürgen Schrempp and his wife Lydia. On the big wagon of the Hippodrom were this time Alfons Schuhbeck (famous cook) Claudia Jung (singer), Gaby Hauptmann (writer), Fritz Wepper (actor), Peter Brabeck-Letmathe and his wife Bernadette (kind of CEO of Nestlé), Marius Fliessbach (Designer of the Hippodrom logo), Franz Klammer (famous Austrian ex-skier), Jean Danielle Pillion (vice commander of the Swiss Guard), Otto Retzer (actor & director), and Alena Gerber (Wiesn-playmate 2008).
