The beautiful baroque-styled Theatiner Church is placed at the Odeons Place next to the Feldhernnhalle and the Hofgarten and catches the visitors eye because of its colour and shape.
The Wittelsbacher King Max Josef I, Max II, Crown Prince Rupprecht von Bayern as well as the church-founders elector Ferdinand Maria and Henriette Adelaide von Savoyen are buried here.
The looked-for birth of the heir apparent Max Emanuel caused Henriette Adelaide con Savoyen, wife of elector Ferdinad Maria, in 1662 to the construction of the church. The church was finished 1688 under the direction of the Swiss master Zucalli and the Theatiner-provost Spinell. The Rococ-façade was designed by Cuvilliés in 1768.
