St. Ludwig - Ludwig Church
Friedrich Gärtner constructed the Parish and University Church St. Ludwig beside the national library according to the exigent wish from King Ludwig I.
Inside the church there is the biggest wall fresco of the newer history of art.
The church was badly damaged in July of 1944 and was used as garrison church by the US-American occupiers.
The reconstruction and the enormous restoration work began 1954 and lasted till 1958.
Big Byzantium-styled ceiling paintings give distinction to the interior of the church.
