
The new Pinakothek is a museum of art in the area of art in Munich that shows specific paintings and sculptures from the 18th and 19th century and outstanding collections about the eras of the European art from the classicism to the art nouveau. From their inventory of more than 3000 paintings and 300 sculptures more than 400 chosen works are exposed regular/permanent.
Centric are outstanding works of European paintings and sculptures from the late 18th to the beginning of the 20th century. Main topic is the German art of the 19th century with a collection that goes back at King Ludwig I and is one of the most comprehensive ever.
Caspar David Friedrich is shown in his work heights of early-romantic empathy but also painters like Wilhelm von Kaulbach describe the new awakened interest for German history.
Works from Hans von Marées – one of the most important German Artists – grace the hall of the new Pinakothek.
Not only the collection of French Impressionists but also the one of portrait- and landscape-painters from England, Spain and France is awesome equipped.
The inventory is part of the Bavarian national collection of paintings.
Opposite to the New Pinakothek there is the Old Pinakothek with works to the beginning of the 18th century. The Pinakothek of modern arts completes the area of art with works from the 20th and 21st century as third museum.
