High above the eastern coast of the Ammersee, in the middle of the Starnberger-Fünf-Seen-Land, thrones the complex of the Andechs Monastery.

In ancient times the holy mountain has already been an place of excursions. The actual monastery was founded in the 15th century. Since 1455 the Benedictians live and work here. 1669 the monastery was rebuilt, in 1755 it became its baroque form. Double beer from the in-house-brewery is served in Andechs to the public since more than 500 years.
